The future of software development

Fawad Shaikh

Episode Summary:

BetterTech Hosts Haseeb Khan, VP of Innovation & Technology, Tkxel chats with Fawad Shaikh, Co-founder, Candle about how they are making software development more accessible and affordable for all businesses. Fawad also talks about the possibilities of enhancing developers’ productivity with the tools like ChatGPT, the future of work and how they can stay updated. Candle is revolutionizing software development by making it easy to run code from any source with our new framework.

Show Notes:

1. Businesses exist to meet the needs of their customers, not to write code. However, the high cost and time investment required for writing code have become a significant barrier for many companies. Candle believes that code should be able to come from anyone, including employees, contractors, or AI, as long as it meets the needs of the business and its customers.

2. Building a software development framework that enables the integration of generic, reusable components in unique ways to solve different problems. By simplifying the connection between components, we’re making it easier to add, change, and share functionality while reducing dependencies and improving testing

4. Candle’s framework ensures that all components have interconnectable interfaces, simplifying the process of customizing and modifying flows to meet your unique needs. It prioritizes safety and ensures that all components run securely. Similar to how ride-sharing made it acceptable to get in a stranger’s car, making it acceptable to run a stranger’s code. By shariw3ng binaries instead of source code, simplifying software composition.

5. With the tools like ChatGPT, it becomes clear that the act of writing has reduced in value.  This has led developers to a place where many are in denial about the user of ChatGPT and others have fear about their future prospects.
